About the Wine

The history of Barolo and Barbaresco have lauded Piedmont as one of the primer wine regions of the world. This legendary region in the NE of Italy has much more to offer than the King and Queen of Italian wine. Amongst a wealth of riches, Barbera is Piedmont's hidden gem!

The "Poderi Aldo Conterno" winery is situated in Bussia of Monforte d'Alba which is the heart of the Barolo wine area. The estate produces exquisite wines exclusively from the 50 acres of pristine vines surrounding the property.

This wine mimics Conterno's house style. The wines are neither clarified nor filtered. They are pure, exuberant expressions of the grape.

Aging: 12 months in 100% new oak barrels.

100% Barbera. The wine envelopes your nose with charming blue fruits, boysenberry, blueberry, and elderberries, accompanied by dried herbs and black licorice. Medium body on the palate, pristine tanins, crescendoed with a tart cherry finish.

Hailing from one of the top producer's in the Piedmont region, Aldo Conterno, 2016 Conca Tre Pile is the gold standard for Barbera. For lover's of Barolo and Barbaresco, this is the $40 wine you've been searching for!

Reviews

Elegant is not a word applicable to most Barbera's, but this one is exactly that: a graceful expression of dark plums, blueberries and mandarin oranges. Medium body, fine, silky tannins and bright plums on the finish. Drink now. ~92JS
