About the Wine

This family domaine has seen gradual improvement over the years with the 2016 firing on all cylinders. Finally, the major magazine critics have taken note. Consumers would be wise to note that Cote Rotie from Rosiers peers in Ampuis rarely sell for less than $100/btl. That makes this wine look like a real bargain!

Tasting Notes: Blend is 98% Syrah with 2% Viognier. 50% new oak with a maximum of 5 years old for 18 months. This is a dry, full-bodied, red wine. The nose reveals the tantalizing aromas blackberry compote, straw sweet oak and granite. This wine has a silky texture with great balance and length. Enjoy with beef, lamb and smoked meats. Also pairs well with hard cheeses like aged cheddar and pecorino.

Craig Baker Selection. Learn more about how BHW works with Craig to import fantastic wines, particularly from Burgundy and the Rhone, at exceptional prices by watching this video.

Reviews

Dark char, iron and black pepper lend an earthen tone to sultry black cherry and plum in this wine. It's richly concentrated and studded with piquant notes of vanilla, anise and nutmeg, but vibrantly balanced too. A bit flamboyant in its youth it's structured enough to gain balance and finesse through 2035. ~95pts, WE, Cellar Selection
