About the Wine

Located in Saint-Sauveur, bordering Pauillac, Chateau Lieujean is a Cru Bourgeois founded in the 19th century. The estate sits on top of clay, sand, and gravel based soils that are perfect for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines average 25 years in age and are beginning to show greater complexity and depth in the wines. Chateau Lieujean takes a sustainable approach to viticulture utilizing a hands-off approach and letting the terroir shine through into the wine. The Lieujean offers great value for a Medoc wine and is a great example of a high-quality wine outside of the major Bordeaux Appellations!

Aging: 12 months in 33% New French Oak Barrels

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. High acidity combines withe ripe fruit to produce a dense, full-bodied wine. Black current, Boysenberry, Blackberry drives the wine coupled with light tannin structure imparted from the modest oak influence. Pairs excellent with Asian dishes, hearty fish, mushrooms, pasta, and hard cheeses.
