About the Wine

"This is a big, powerhouse wine packed with rich, ripe blackberry and plum flavors. An unoaked blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, it's decadently fruity but intently mineral, too, etched by bristling strikes of stone and earth. Hedonistic already but should hold through 2025." ~91 Wine Enthusiast

Lirac shares many of the same iconic terroir conditions as its more famous neighbor Châteauneuf-du-Pape, like galets roulés, sand, and limestone soils. And even though this appellation has been overshadowed by its more famous neighbor, in recent years, "Lirac has emerged from the shadows to become something different.” Wine Enthusiast says. Domaine Coudoulis (one of the most important wineries from the appellation) is here to prove it.

Domaine Coudoulis is a hidden gem in Rhône’s right bank. The Domaine is located in Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres, a commune in the Gard department in Southern France, and dates back to1960, when the Callet family decided to give birth to a grand cru from the Rhone Valley. Coudoulis’s mantra is to “live up to their terroir.” They achieve this by producing stunning wines that are an ode to Rhone Valley.

Owner and vigneron, Bernard Callet, manages the 70-acre vineyards with sustainable viticulture.

This offers an array of rich and ripe blueberries with chocolate and violets, too. The palate has a really bold and fleshy array of blueberry and dark-plum flavors and delivers a super juicy, gently grippy finish. Drink or hold. ~91 James Suckling
