About the Wine

“Tradition, passion, love for wine; respect and appreciation of what is given each year is an adventure for us that is continually renewed with the repetition of the seasons." ~Barbara and Alberto Paltrinieri

This strong statement comes from the owners of this strong winery in the heart of Sorbara. Alberto and Barbara is the fourth generation of passionate winemakers from the Paltrinieri family, producing exciting, award-winning wines in Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC.

Paltrinieri Winery was founded in 1926 and is made up of more than 42 acres of vineyards planted in the historic area of Cristo di Sorbara, adjacent to the two rivers that surround the province of Modena, Secchia, and Panaro.

Lambrusco di Sorbara is a renowned DOC located in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, which has become world-renowned for its production of frizzante rosé and red wines. This grape variety is known for producing fragrant, floral wines that are amazingly refreshing and with a well-balanced palate.

2020 Paltrinieri 'Leclisse' Lambrusco di Sorbara is on the major leagues of Lambrusco di Sorbara. This wine has been recognized by some of the most important critics worldwide. Wine Enthusiast called it a “lovely, gently sparkling wine with extremely refined perlage” and German magazine Falstaff referred to it as “very inviting and fine.”

2020 was a good year for Emilia-Romagna. Vinous media have this year a 90–92-point review, stating that “the 2020 vintage has produced sun-kissed yet high energy wines that will provide a lot of balanced pleasure upon release.”

Tasting Notes:  100% Lambrusco Sorbara. Pale powder pink, with a very fine and persistent perlage. White floral aromas, hawthorn, red apple skin, wild strawberry, with aromas of raspberry and vanilla. Strong acidity and fresh finish, persistent and delicate with a fruity note. Dry, sharp, and clean. This wine pairs lovely with oysters or a tartare of raw fish, a platter of cheeses and cold cuts, or as an aperitif.

Reviews

Radiant and bone-dry, this lovely, gently sparkling winehas delicate scents of red berry and white spring flowers. Savory and vibrant, the elegant palate features crushed strawberry, pomegranate, and hints of vanilla framed in an extremely refined perlage.Crisp acidity keeps it lively and focused. ~95, Wine Enthusiast.

Rich raspberry and cherry, a hint of chestnut honey, very inviting and fine. Balanced and very clear on the palate, spread with hearty red berry fruit, a slightly salty undertone, calls for a second sip. ~92 Points, Falstaff.

Elegant and decidedly complex, it alternates notes of broom, helichrysum, dates, cumin, and yellow peach peel. Medium-full body, thin bubbles, and an intact and decisive finish that everyone likes. Drink now. ~91 Points, WineCritic.com

The 2020 Lambrusco di Sorbara Leclisse is lifted and floral with nuances of strawberry, savory spice, and incense. Its silken bubbles are quickly firmed up by a mix of salty minerals and acids, as citrus-tinged orchard fruits add further tension through the medium-length finale. The Leclisse is produced by the Charmat method, and it spends three months resting on the lees prior to bottling. ~90 Points, Vinous Media.
