About the Wine

Ernesto Dellapiana left Turin over 40 years ago to found Rizzi. Starting wtih the Rizzi farmhouse and its vineyards on the two sides of the hill (Cru Rizzi) and Cru Nervo (a four-hectare plot under the village of Treiso), the winery has been expanded a few hectares at a time. Today, Ernesto and his wife are assisted in both production and sales by their son and daughter. A true family affair, these estate wines are recognized by Gambero Rosso and all of the major critics as emblematic and pillars in the Barbaresco region.

Tasting notes: Deep garnet red in color; the nose reveals a beautiful and sensual fragrance with a rich complexity and intense floral component of violet and rose, and a very crisp red fruit, raspberry and strawberry, with notes of black pepper, cloves, and licorice. Its taste is full and mellow, very balanced, with a nice tannic structure. Wine characterized by elegance and finesse. Serve lightly chilled.

Reviews

Strawberries and cherry essence, as well as dried raspberries. Shows lovely roundness of tannins on the palate with some good intensity of fruit. Medium body and a medium-chewy finish. Drink now. ~91JS
