Sancerre, famous for its white wines, also makes wonderful reds and this is one of the best. The pinot noir grape has its own special expression in Sancerre, which is the close neighbor of Burgundy. The color is a beautiful light purple with a rich perfume of raspberries, plums, woodland violets and intense vanilla and cinnamon aromas. The taste is fruity, only slightly tannic, and gently spicey, balanced and complex. The finish is silky and lingers. Wonderful on its own and perfect with fish, fowl, light sauces. Taste it for a perfect introduction to a classic Red Sancerre.
