About the Wine

To inspire his vision for Highest Beauty, map in hand, Andy Erickson tasted his way through 56 individually fermented blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon from To Kalon Vineyard. To connect flavor and texture with soil and sun, he then walked the blocks, fine tuning his selections. Along with being a winemaker, Andy is also a highly experienced, hands-on winery designer. Leaving no detail to chance, he helped build the fermenters used to craft this small-lot wine.

The 2016 Highest Beauty opens with delicious blackberry, cassis, and blackberry compote notes on the nose. The palate is a harmonious dance between dark, luxuriously juicy cherry and bright, balancing acidity supported by fine, strong tanning, all leading to a long, lingering finish.

Blend: 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5% Cabernet Franc, .5% Mixed Varietals

Boxed in a beautiful black case.

Reviews

A large wine, with a dense, layered core of black currant, blackberry and fig fruit paste flavors, steeped with sagebrush, tar, loam and tobacco accents. A bolt of warm cast iron runs through the finish, providing structure and support that should allow this to cruise for two decades in the cellar. A terrific combination of intense, modern, clearly defined fruit, with an old-school grounding in terroir. Best from 2025 through 2045. 500 cases made. ~97WS
