About the Wine

Pax Mahle landed in Napa Valley in 1997. Following a stint as a wine buyer at Dean & Deluca, he started producing wines. He particularly focused on cool climate Syrah. With the launch of Wind Gap in Petaluma, he began to focus on lower alcohol Pinot Noir sourced from organic and low-intervention vineyards.

Reviews

The 2015 Pinot Noir Gaps Crown Vineyard emerges from the upper part of the vineyard, where the soils are at their thinnest. Those conditions yield a powerful, tannic Pinot built on structure and intensity. Dark stone fruit, violet, lavender and exotic spice abound. Ample, large-scaled and virile, the 2015 is remarkably nuanced for such a big wine. This is a striking wine from Pax Mahle and Wind Gap. ~94+VM
