About this Wine

The winery is surrounded by top flight wines, but sells for a fraction of the cost of its neighbors. Indeed, 90% of St. Julien consists of vineyards associated with a classified estate. It's important to remember that much of the Glana's current vineyards were acquired from the 3rd Growth Ch. Lagrange, updated and renovated since 1999. The vineyard is planted to 65% Cabernet and 35% Merlot and covered in Garonne gravel. The wine sees about 40% new French oak.

Until his recent passing, Professor Denis Dubourdieu advised the winemaking. He also consulted at Cheval Blanc and Ch. Margaux.

2016 is a can't miss vintage in Bordeaux. A marvelous vintage with full ripeness, and integrated tannins, this vintage delivered wines that are available now and built to last for many years to come. Here is an opportunity to stock up on some quality Bordeaux that has hit its stride. If you love mushroomy terroir, wet stone, Cabernet and gravel, this is a wine for you!

Reviews

Very vivid and juicy with lovely fruit and acidity that gives this wine presence and texture. Much better than the 2015. ~92-93JS

A sleeper in this vintage, the 2016 du Glana is absolutely gorgeous. Supple and resonant on the palate, with terrific depth and tons of character, the 2016 is a real overachiever. Juicy red cherry, plum, lavender and sweet spice all flesh out in this succulent, hugely delicious Saint-Julien. Don't miss it. ~90VM
