About the Wine

Father, daughter duo Rainer and Christina Wess work together in the vineyard and in the cellar to produce pure unadulterated expressions of terroir. Established in 2003, Weingut Rainer Wess has quickly become a rising star in Austria exclusively producing Gruner Veltliner, Riesling, and a little bit of Pinot Noir. They maintain organic and sustainable farming practices producing wines high quality wines with pure expressions.

They are a member of Österreichischen Traditionsweingüter, an Austrian association of wine producers, who establish rules and classifications to help raise the quality of the wines. Strictly focused on producing dry wines, the organization is committed to raising the standards for Austrian wine much in the same way the VDP has greatly improved the quality of German wines.

Tasting Notes: The wine erupts with a bouquet of yellow apple, pear skin, fresh asparagus, sliced celery, crushed rock, and hints of white pepper.  The 2017 Weingut Rainer Wess Wachauer Grüner Veltliner is lean & herbaceous, filling the palate with mouth watering acidity and a crisp, refreshing finish.
