About the Wine

Originally established in 1808, Maison Chapoutier, is one of the most admired brands in the world of wine. Today, the estate is overseen by Micheal Chapoutier who has continued to build upon the family legacy by purchasing new high quality vineyard holdings and, in 1991, implemented biodynamic farming practices throughout the estate. Arguably the Rhone's most decorated producer, each wine is a photo graphic image of where it's from. Respect, bold, tradition, excellence, and prestige all embody the Chapoutier name if you've never had a sip of excellence, now's your chance!

Since 1996, each wine from the estate is inscribed with a Braille description of the wine. This is to honor of Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne, who invented the first abridged version of Braille, and who once owned vines on the hill of Hermitage that are now overseen my Maison Chapoutier.

This 100% Syrah is from a newly classified IGP Collines Rhodaniennes that shows the potential of an up and coming region. The grapes are destemmed before the wine is vinified in concrete tanks. The wine is aged in neutral oak barrels for 12 months. This Syrah punches well above its weight class and it won't be long before Collines Rhodaniennes reaches the world stage

Tasting Notes: In the glass, the wine shows a crimson hue with vermilion tints. The nose is spicy with fresh red fruit and pepper, complement by floral notes after aeration. On the palate, the wine is fresh, delicate, and silky. The black pepper and Morello cherry aromas give way to an energetic finish with notes of cedar.

Reviews

Vivid yellow-gold. Highly perfumed, mineral-accented aromas of Anjou pear, tangerine and white flowers, along with subtle ginger and fennel overtones. Vibrant and sharply focused in the mouth, offering palate-staining orchard and pit fruit flavors complicated by refreshingly bitter quinine and citrus zest nuances and a hint of smoky lees. Finishes with excellent clarity and minerally thrust, leaving honeysuckle and mineral notes behind. ~93Vinous

A blend of estate-owned parcels aged three-quarters in oak and one-quarter in stainless steel, the 2016 Hermitage Chante-Alouette is a rich, almost sweet-tasting example of Hermitage. It's powerful and bold, bursting with honey and tangerine aromas and flavors, then is balanced by hints of brine and citrus zest on the lengthy finish. 2018-2030 ~92RP
