About the Wine

Did you know that the world's first sparkling wine was made in Limoux? Let's give them a round of applause because what would this world be without that bubbling pleasure?

Sieur d’Arques is the combination of passionate and hard-working people, with dreams, a love of bubbles, and as a result, they produce magnificent wines. Sieur d'Arques has been producing first-rate Sparkling wines since 1946, located just 15 miles from one of the most charming cities in France and Europe, Carcassonne. The area is filled with historic towers and castles that take us back to Gallo-Roman times. In addition, they have a spectacular terroir, a Mediterranean climate, and clay-limestone soils that are ideal for sparking wine production.

Besides having an ambitious and successful oenological project, they are also the organizers of one of the most important events in the world of wine: Toques & Cloches, one of the most important and largest wine auctions in France. Many gastronomic celebrities have attended this event: 3 star-Michelin chefs like Alain Ducasse, Paul Bocuse, Joël Robuchon, Alain Passard, and Sommeliers like  Jean Frambourt and Andréas Larsson, to name a few.

Sieur d’Arques is committed socially, environmentally, and economically to producing quality wine with little intervention while maintaining sustainable practices (certified with ISO). Good people and good wines, what else does the world need?

In 1990 the AOC Crémant de Limoux was born and with it the new label of the house: "Sieur d'Arques Aimery Cremant de Limoux Brut" made from the traditional method or "Champenoise" method and with a higher percentage of Chardonnay grapes.

Tasting Notes: Sparkling Wine. Delicate bubbles, great acidity and a hint of sweetness. Notes of acacia honey and soft toasted hazelnut. On the palate with flavors of green apple and citrus fruits. Best paired with salmon or any fresh fish dishes.
