About the Wine

Chateau La Gaffeliere has a deep history; they're one of the oldest family owned vineyards dating back as far as the 1400s! The Estate didn't start producing wine until the 17th century. This Gothic styled Chateau had built a reputation as one of the finest producers in all of St-Emilion by the 18th century. The vineyards of this prestigious Chateau are planted to 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Chateau La Gaffeliere is one the premier producers in St-Emilion who's wines display great energy and structure capable of aging 30+ years!

Born in 1985, Dame is produced mainly from the young vines. The 2014 is blended using 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It is a “wine for pleasure” that can be enjoyed in its youth along with 10 years of aging potential. La Dame is harvested and produced according to the high standards set forth by the first label: pruning, cover, de-leafing, green harvest, hand-picking. In the cellar, the same technical process sets the pace for successive stages of vinification. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: The nose exudes aromas of ripe blackcurrants, licorice, and wild herbs, leading on to an expansive palate displaying rich black and red fruits supported by silky smooth and almost seamless tannins

Reviews

The second wine of this Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé estate comes from selected parcels. Rich and with the smoothness of oak aging and ripe grapes, it is a generous wine that is developing well. Drink from 2020. 93 Wine Enthusiast
