About the Wine

The story of Martinelli winery dates back over 135 years, when Giuseppe Martinelli y Luisa Vellutini arrived from Tuscany to the amazing Russian River Valley, pursuing their dream to plant vines and start producing their own wine.

A strong love for the land has been passed down from generation to generation. And today, this family-owned winery is managed by the 6th generation of wine growers and farmers, all within the Martinelli family.

Martinelli has 15 vineyards located in some of the best appellations in California, including the Russian River Valley and Fort Ross Seaview. Every vineyard and winery itself is sustainably certified.

"Bella Vigna" in Italian, is translated to Beautiful Vine. This is an accurate description of this 100% Pinot Noir, where 70% of the grapes are sourced for the Russian River Valley estate vineyards and 30% is sourced from Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. The Martinelli winemaking team chose barrels that best denote the flavor profiles of our small, Pinot Noir vineyards combined.” The result is a superb wine that Wine Enthusiast calls "silky and luxurious."

Aging: 10 months in French oak barrels (50% new)

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. Alluring in the nose with aromas of Bing cherry and raspberry. The palate is full of flavor including ripe cherries and cinnamon that linger to the finish.

Reviews

Silky and luxurious, with wild shocks of cinnamon and nutmeg, this lush, full-bodied wine is riddled with rich layers of strawberry and boysenberry. It holds its weight and breadth well, showing underlying acidity that winds its way into the foundational structure. ~93 Wine Enthusiast
