About the Wine

Domaine Louis Latour covers 48 hectares of vineyard, including 27 hectares of Grand Cru, and is the largest holding of Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. The Domaine is centered in the village of Aloxe-Corton which has been the Latour's family home since the creation of the house. Their philosophy has always been to maximize the quality of grapes to produce great wines; 90% of the work is done in the vineyards however the remaining 10% is critical. The care and attention to detail seen in the vineyards are carried over into their winemaking where commitment to traditional and manual techniques brings out the absolute best in all of their wines.

"Grancey" was the name of the last owners of the chateau situated on the road of Corton, before the Latour family bought it in 1891. This wine, produced by Maison Louis Latour, is unique and exclusive. It is a blend of four areas of Domaine Latour Corton Grand Cru: Bressandes, Perrières, Grèves and Clos du Roi, the proportions of which vary depending on the vintage. The average age of the vines is over 40 years. After aging individually, only the best barrels are assembled to create the Château Corton Grancey. It is a wine that is produced only if the grapes are of a perfect maturity, vintages judged inferior are systematically declassified.

Aging: 10 to 12 months aging in 35% new oak barrels

Tasting Notes:Red Wine. 100% Pinot Noir. Pale ruby color and much fruitiness and roundness characterize this powerful and well-structured wine. This elegant grand cru is very much typical of the Pinot Noir.
