From Il Capo, the top barrel selection from 2014 is a gorgeous Bordeaux blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Aged for almost two years in French and American oak. From the up and coming new AVA of Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, this region is the place for lovers of French Bordeaux to find their companion wines in California. This wine is delicious now and will drink through 2030. Only 120 cases produced.
The dark, haunting aromatics from extended barrel aging and the sumptuous blend make this a serious wine to pair with any meat.
Comparable to a 1990 Sandrone Barolo Cannubi or a 1986 Mouton Rothschild, per our tasting panel.
