Nestled in the heart of Verdigny-en-Sancerre, this vineyard is known for its breathtaking beauty and timeless charm.
La Perrière’s vineyards cover 43 hectares, with 38 of those dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc. The secret? Flint soils that are perfect for growing some of the finest Sauvignon Blanc grapes. These vines are sustainably managed, with the rolling hills of Sancerre providing just the right amount of sun to help the grapes ripen to perfection.
The winemaking process at La Perrière is all about care and precision. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are handpicked to ensure only the best make it into the bottle. After a gentle pressing and a bit of cool fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees for a few months to develop its fresh, vibrant character with just the right amount of complexity.
When you pour a glass of the 2021 Domaine de la Perrière Blanc Fumé de Pouilly, you’re not just tasting wine—you’re experiencing a piece of the Loire Valley. “Blanc Fumé” refers to the smoky, gunflint aroma that makes this wine so unique. Expect bright flavors of citrus and green apple, with a hint of that signature flinty minerality that Loire wines are famous for.
Crafted by the Saget family, who have been making wine for nine generations, this wine is a true testament to the Loire Valley’s winemaking heritage.
Pouilly-Fumé's unique terroir, with its flinty soils and proximity to the Loire River, produces some of the most exciting Sauvignon Blancs in the world. Wines that captivate with their smoky aromas, vibrant acidity, and intense citrus flavors.
Decanter Magazine said, "Pouilly-Fumé exemplifies the Loire Valley's mastery of Sauvignon Blanc, showcasing its signature flinty, mineral-driven character. These wines exhibit excellent purity, bright citrus flavors, and a crisp, refreshing finish, making them a true delight for Sauvignon Blanc enthusiasts."
100% Sauvignon Blanc. Pouilly Fumé has a lovely golden hue with green tints. On the nose, a rich array of aromas, opening with pear, white peach, and quince and contines with white flowers and boxwood. The wine reveals a lovely, lively acidity with pear and peach aromas coming through again on the palate, followed by a hint of lemon on the finish. This is a rich wine with long, lingering aromas.
