About the Wine

Quinta da Devesa Ports are produced exclusively from lots vinified and aged on the property. Since 1941, the harvests considered of superior quality by the family's winemakers have been stored and aged in wooden casks. These extraordinary wines are now used to produce Quinta da Devesa Ports.

Owned by the Fortunato family, Quinta da Devesa is a small 34-hectare winery in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley, overlooking the confluence of the rivers Douro and Corgo. The winery has been dedicated to the production of Douro and Port wine since 1941. Tawny Ports, both red and white, are the winery's specialty.

The vineyards range in elevation from 500 to 600 meters, part south-facing, with excellent sun exposure, and part north-facing where it receives cooler prevailing winds. This diversity of sun and wind exposure causes varying levels of maturation and development that allow harvesting under optimal conditions.

Tasting Notes: Sweet notes of marzipan nut mixed with roasted and peeled almonds and a touch of brandy. Soft, velvety, and round, with caramel cream and Frangelico flavors. Creamy at the beginning, shows its strength and structure, evolving very well and finishing long and firm.

Best 10 Year Tawny Port, 2015 ~For The Love of Port

The NV 10-Year-Old Tawny Porto was bottled in 2017 with a bar-top cork and 109 grams of sugar. In fact, said the winemaker, this has more than 10 years of average age. This seemed a little creamy on opening, but it ultimately showed its power and its structure, evolving nicely and finishing with grip and tension. This is a 10 that emphasizes complexity. It is nicely done. Not imported, this runs around 20 euros in Portugal. ~90 Wine Advocate

With good wood-aging aromas, this is a more mature style of an aged tawny. The wood flavors come through strongly, bringing out acidity, coffee, and dried raisins. Well balanced, it finishes with great acidity. ~90 Wine Enthusiast
