About this Wine

The winery is surrounded by top flight wines, but sells for a fraction of the cost of its neighbors. Indeed, 90% of St. Julien consists of vineyards associated with a classified estate. It's important to remember that much of the Glana's current vineyards were acquired from the 3rd Growth Ch. Lagrange, updated and renovated since 1999. The vineyard is planted to 65% Cabernet and 35% Merlot and covered in Garonne gravel. The wine sees about 40% new French oak.

Until his recent passing, Professor Denis Dubourdieu advised the winemaking. He also consulted at Cheval Blanc and Ch. Margaux.

People often ask for aged wine, but the marketplace focuses on selling current releases. Here is an opportunity to stock up on some quality Bordeaux that has hit its stride. If you love mushroomy terroir, wet stone, Cabernet and gravel, this is a wine for you!

Reviews

From the privileged soil of St.-Julien, this is an opulently rich wine. The weight is obvious as is the sweet fruit. But there is complexity as well, spice and black currant fruit powerful and concentrated. For long-term aging. ~92WE, Cellar Selection
