About the Wine

"If you don't know about this winery, it's time to get it in gear" ~The Wine Advocate

Côte Bonneville is a small family-owned winery, producing wine off of their 45 acres, DuBrul vineyard. The vines are grown entirely on their own rootstock, giving them a pure expression of these varieties from this terroir. The Carriage house is Côte Bonneville's signature a Bordeaux style blend, sourced from a single block within the vineyard. As one of Washington's premier estates, Côte Bonneville, consistently transforms one of the best vineyards in the Pacific Northwest into thrilling wines.

The DuBrul Vineyard was planted in 1992, but it wasn't until 2001 that the family started producing wine from the fruit. The vineyard was awarded the honor of Vineyard of the Year in 2007 and again in 2009. They initially started actually making wine because they knew that they had a special site. They also knew that it needed to be vinified in small lots in order to truly represent just how special all of the microclimates are.

"Iconic. It is the first word that comes to mind when I think of DuBrul Vineyard." ~Washington Wine Report

The family is big on sustainable practices and forward-thinking winemaking techniques. In the vineyard, they have recognized a series of microclimates that they tailor their farming practices to. What is consistent in these individual microclimates is a deficit irrigation technique. This helps conserve water usage, and reduces yields, giving only small, high-quality fruit.

Tasting Notes: Cherry, raspberry and red currant fruits combine with coriander, cardamom, and bergamot for an exciting array of flavors.  Coffee and toasty oak are supported by good structure and a long finish.

Reviews

Another pretty, perfumed, slightly forward wine is the 2012 Dubrul Vineyard Carriage House, which is based on 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc that was aged two years in 42% new French oak. It offers notes of red currants, sage brush, spice, and licorice in a charming, elegant, sweetly fruited style. There’s a touch of herbaceousness that won’t be for everyone, but it should drink nicely for 5-7 years. ~90 Wine Advocate
