About the Wine

Sancerre is the benchmark for Sauvignon Blanc around the world. We love this wine so much for its versatility and lip-smacking, thirst quenching qualities. Yet, we can't seem to keep it in stock!

“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.

Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley, west of Paris. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre that is the flagship wine of the whole region. As Decanter magazine wrote, “Sancerre is today a Sauvignon Blanc stronghold in France's Loire Valley, known for delicious dry white wines with beautiful texture and refreshing acidity.”

The story of Domaine Paul Doucet, producer of this amazing white Sancerre, started back in 1975 when the Doucet family planted about 12 acres in the village of Sury-en-Vaux. Today, this family-owned winery owns almost 30 acres.

The vineyard is located in a beautiful terroir with rare soils composed of chalk clay (also known as Terres Blanches,) silex, and “caillottes” (a mix of marl and limestone) that are typical of the region.

The result is a delicious and fun white Sancerre, that has beautiful and crisp acidity. Sancerre is perfect to pair with almost anything. No wonder why Forbes magazine called Sancerre the "world's greatest white wine!"

Tasting notes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Intensely aromatic and complex with white flowers and flavors of peach, grapefruit, and tangerine. The mouthfeel is ample yet fresh with a striking minerality and flawless harmony.
