About the Wine

The Laguiche family has owned this vineyard parcel since 1363. It is the largest Grand Cru vineyard in Montrachet on the Puligny side of the appellation. The Drouhin family has managed it since 1947. It is generally considered one of the finest Chardonnay vineyards in the world.

Tasting notes from Veronique Boss-Drouhin: "An authentic masterpiece! This wine should be regarded as the yardstick by which all other Burgundies should be judged. The colour has a splendid golden sheen. On the nose, a multitude of aromas are a pleasure to discover: floral notes of lily of the valley, peach blossom, exotic fruit, honey, grilled almonds, even exotic woods at times. On the palate, the structure is dominated by a harmonious roundness which never imparts any heaviness. The aftertaste is exceptionally long and enhances the finesse of the whole. A glorious symphony of sensations!".

Reviews

Has wonderful aromas and intense, concentrated almond, honey, pear and butter flavors that are tightly reined in now and in need of cellaring. Picks up toast, butter and layers of fruit on the powerful aftertaste. Drink now to 1996 and perhaps beyond. ~95 pts, WS
