About the Wine

On the paradisiacal island of Sardinia, you will find Cannonau di Sardegna, an impressive appellation that stands out thanks to the production of Grenache (Cannonau is the local name of this grape). The wines from this region have given much to talk about in recent years thanks to their impressive aging ability.

Dolianova is synonymous with quality. This cooperative has been advocating for the wines of this island since its creation back in 1949. They have managed to develop and improve the wine industry in Sardinia.

Cantine di Dolianova’s mantra is simple: "Love for the land, passion for the vineyards, and commitment to always improve with the aim of producing superior quality wine."

Today, this cooperative has more than 35 vine-growers and 300 associates, all of them working together to achieve a single goal: Transmit to the world the greatness of Sardinian wines.

The most reputable region on the island is the southeast, where world-renowned wines are being produced. The vineyards of this cooperative are located in this specific area, including Dolianova, Serdiana, Donori, Ussana, and Soleminis. They are placed in low hills and undulating terrain and the climate is ideal for their native grapes to thrive.

The grapes to produce the 2018 Dolianova "Anzenas" Cannonau di Sardegna come from an exquisite vineyard, with soils composed of clay and limestone of Miocene origin.

Tasting Notes90% Cannonau, 10% native red grapes. An intense, long-lasting, ethereal, heady, with hints of forest fruits on the nose. Warm and enveloping, good body with the right amount of tannins on the palate. This wine pairs lovely with roasts, game, and mature cheeses.

Reviews

Really ripe blackberries and currants, together with savory aromas of red chili, pungent flowers, and some stony minerals. Full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins that are powdered with licoricey black fruit and lightly charred oak flavors. Long, intense, and flavorful finish. Drinkable now, but this will be better in a couple of years. Drink in 2023. ~93 James Suckling.
