About the Wine

In 1999, longtime friends Roger Louer and Robert Young commenced efforts to establish a first-class Cabernet Sauvignon wine brand, sourcing the grapes from Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, California.

Located to the east of St. Helena, at an elevation ranging from 1400 to 2200 feet, Howell Mountain is considered one of the most prestigious wine-growing regions in the world. Roberts and Rogers sources their grapes for this wonderful wine from the Howell Mountain sub-appellation area and for the present vintages from a vineyard jointly developed by Roberts and Rogers in 2000.

The first vintage of Roberts + Rogers, Howell Mountain was the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, released in 2007 with around 300 cases available. The wine was immediately met with a warm welcome from the privileged few to enjoy that first vintage. Following Vintages have received acclaim and high points from Robert Parker ratings.

Since that first release, the Roberts + Rogers wines have continued to improve in excellence, receiving numerous awards and accolades, high Parker ratings, as well as Gold Medals from esteemed competitions, including the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

From the Legendary St. Helena AVA known for producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. The cool Pacific breezes from the north reaches St. Helena earlier, cooling the vines and delivering graceful, intense fruit with concentration and depth.

This wine is made with 100% new oak. It's a big juicy, oaky, and fruit-forward delight. If you love big, juicy, oak-forward Napa Cabs then this is your jam!

Aging: 100% New French Oak

Tasting notes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family opens with cedar and underbrush notions giving way to a core of crushed blackcurrants, blackberry pie, and touches of wild sage. Full-bodied, concentrated, and densely packed with black fruit preserves, it has a firm, grainy frame with just enough freshness, finishing long and savory.

Reviews

Luxuriously lush and layered in dark cherry, plum and dark chocolate, this wine is burly and ripe, made from 100% varietal grapes. It holds its undeniable weight, finishing supple in tannin and generous oak. Virginie Boone ~90 Wine Enthusiast.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family comes from St. Helena and offers a beautiful, elegant, medium to full-bodied style as well as classic crème de cassis, blueberry, graphite, lead pencil, and hints of leafy herbs. This beauty takes time to open up but is approachable today and should have 15+ years of prime drinking. ~94 Jeb Dunnuck (v. 2016)

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family slips sensuously out of the glass with provocative scents of kirsch, black raspberries, chocolate-covered cherries and cassis with touches of dried mint, lilacs, tobacco and cinnamon stick. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with perfumed and spicy black fruit preserves, framed by wonderfully plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with fantastic length and depth. ~95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (v. 2015)

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Louer Family has more elegance and freshness compared to the 2014 and offers a layered, complex nose of crème de cassis, black cherries, dried flowers, lead pencil, and dried spices. It’s full-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant and layered on the palate, and while it lacks the density of the 2014, it’s perfectly balanced, has polished tannin, and a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years as well. ~95 Jeb Dunnuck (v. 2015)
