About the Wine

The Villa di Corlo estate is located in the heart of Lambrusco country in the Modena province, one of Italy’s greatest culinary destinations. Known for its iconic food products like traditional balsamic vinegar and zampone and classic dishes like tortellini in brodo and tagliatelle al ragù this dry Lambrusco is a food-friendly wine just like the region it's born in. The primary focus of Villa di Corlo is the production of sparkling Lambrusco made from estate-grown Lambrusco Grasparossa. A quality Lambrusco producer constructing modern wines with a lively sparkle, a rich flavor exalted by a good counteracted acidity. These food-friendly wines are ready to showcase the magic of Lambrusco!

The estate manages 25 hectares of vineyards, mostly cultivated with Grasparossa grapes, a thick-skinned, late-ripening variety of Lambrusco. The vineyards lie at the foothills more than 300 meters above sea level, Villa di Corlo’s Lambrusco di Grasparosso DOC is classic in style, with balance and restrained sweetness, a perfect pairing for the traditional salumi and dishes of Modena but also a wonderful match for pizza, American standbys like hamburgers, and Asian cuisine.

Tasting Notes: 100% Lambrusco Grasparossa. Intense ruby-red color, tending towards garnet. Distinctly vinous and particularly fragrant bouquet. Dry and sapid, this Lambrusco is full-bodied and slightly tannic. A perfect match with cured meats and first courses of the tradition: tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce and rich lasagna. Wonderful with red meat.

Reviews

Tangy sour cherries here, as well as blueberries and black raspberries. Dry and citrusy on the medium-bodied palate, framing a filigree of bubbles and bolstered by steely acidity. Drink now. ~91 James Suckling
