About the Wine

Russian River Valley is for excellence the region for cold weather grape varieties in California, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay grape is a gem in this region and the great reputation that Californian Chardonnay has today is largely due to the wonderful wines that the Russian River Valley delivers. 2016 David Bruce Chardonnay Russian River Valley is not the exception!

David Bruce is recognized for his cutting-edge technology and modernism taken from the vineyard to the wine cellar. His ambitious idea to create the best Pinot Noir from the region and his revolutionary and innovative way to produce wines led him to be the region's leader in the fermentation with the whole grape berries.

The vineyard is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It has an exceptional terroir for varieties that are considered David Bruce Winery's gems: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They result in exceptional and wonderful wines of great character, structure and quality.

In 1975, wine merchant Steven Spurrier selected David Bruce's 1973 vintage of Chardonnay for the famous Paris Tasting, better known as the “Judgment of Paris”. The competition was a blind tasting of some of the best Californian Chardonnays, with Chardonnays from France. Thanks to this competition, people acknowledge Californian wines and recognized that they had exceptional quality and can compete with the famous, historically recognized French wines.

For more than 50 years, David Bruce Winery has produced wines from their 25-acre mountain estate vineyard and from fruit sourced from more than 20 of the best growers in Northern and Central California. The breadth and diversity of grape sources have long given David Bruce Winery experience creating a broad range of wines and firmly established the winery as one of the leading premium winemakers on the international stage.
