Robert Parker, Jr. described Panther Creek “as one of the most consistent, high quality Oregon wineries … producing some of Oregon’s most concentrated and age-worthy wines.

Founded by Ken Wright, the wines are now made by Tony Rynders. With a goal to capture the essence of Oregon Pinot that can be enjoyed as a young, fresh wine, Tony showcases ripe, sweet fruit, as well as older, mature wines that features unparalleled complexity and beauty.

Tasting notes:  Bright red fruit, white pepper, spice, honey and floral tones provide the forwardness of this 2012, but there is an underlying dustiness that wraps around a core of structure, creating quite a classy beauty.

Aging: 12 months 30% new French oak

Reviews

Here the nose runs more towards plum, dark currant and exotic notes of tea, sandalwood and cinnamon. There is once again a suave and very supple mouth feel to the medium weight flavors that coat the palate with extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the delicious, balanced and dusty finale. This is quite good as I like both the intensity and the excellent complexity though note well that this robust effort will also require patience.  ~92 pts, AM, Burghound

A barrel selection, principally from the estate's Lazy River vineyard, this is solid, forward and medium weight. It offers a mix of ripe black cherry, cola and a hint of sassafras, while settling comfortably into midpalate pleasureville before trailing out in a lively, mineral-touched finish. ~91WE
