About the Wine

Armason is the Piemontese homage to the Chardonnay grape. Like the svelte, unique bottle itself, this wine has all the right curves. Exquisite balance of fruit, acid, oak, and deliciousness, this wine will open your mind about the possibility for great Chardonnay in the land of Nebbiolo.

La Bollina Winery is located in Serravalle Scrivia AL, Italy. A municipality in the province of Alessandria in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 62 miles southeast of Turin and about 16 miles southeast of Alessandria.

This historical territory, which specializes in DOCD Gavi, was for centuries the residence of the Marchioness Figari of Genova. A 120 ha winery, surrounded by hills and chestnut forests is the location where magnificent wines are made.

Besides having 28 ha of cultivated vineyards, an excellent and well-equipped cellar, in La Bollina you can find luxury accommodation for guests: An “Art Nouveau” style villa, a modern 4-star hotel, and a 9-hole golf course that expands throughout the vineyards.

The Bollina winery is completely renovated and has some of the most advanced techniques, systems, and instruments in modern winemaking.

Andrea Bernardini is a passionate consultant winemaker who has hit numerous home runs. He graduated from Pisa, one of the best schools of oenology in Italy, in 2007. He earned his chops at Poggio Bonelli and Ruffino in Tuscany and trained in South Africa, Romania and Greece. After several years of experience, he is now a flying winemaker blending tradition and modern techniques to obtain high-quality wines with respect to the expression of the different grapes and terroir in which he works.

The grapes are harvested fully ripe between late August and early September. The pressing and immediate decantation at low temperatures, make it possible to obtain a yellow/green must with strong aromatic potential. Alcoholic fermentation in steel and barrels. A part is aged in steel and the other part in barrels, on yeast with periodic battonage.

Tasting Notes: White wine. 100% Chardonnay. Straw yellow color. On the nose fruity aromas are perceived, hints of chamomile, vanilla, and tropical notes such as passion fruit and pineapple. On the palate, it has a strong entrance and balanced acidity, fresh, elegant, and persistent. This white wine pairs well with shrimp and grilled fish.
