About the Wine

In 2001 Anne-Marie and Bernard Forestier bought the castle and its estate, which was previously maintained by the Alban family who still helps to maintain the estate. Until 2011, the Chateau Juvenal's production was done at the Balma Venitia cellar. Their Château Juvenal cuvée has won several awards from the Hachette guide

In 2011, Anne-Marie and Bernard Forestier joined forces with Sébastien Alban. The two families joined forces and built the cellars of Château Juvenal. In September 2011, Sébastien vinified the first vintage at the new chateau. Philippe Cambie, who was voted best oenologist of the year 2010 by Robert Parker, helps Sébastien and the wine production team at Chateau Juvenal.

'La Terre du Petit Homme' means the land of the little man. The name comes from ancient lore that its plots were often visited by a little man, always accompanied by his little black dog. It is rumored that he did not walk there by chance and that his dog seemed a little crazy because he was in a hurry to dig into the truffle. It's a terroir at the top of the hill, stony, perfectly exposed from east to west, overlooking a pine forest, and planted with 30 to 50-year-old vines

Tasting Notes: 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre. This wine has a nose of sweet spices, black cherries, and small red fruits. Its mouth is suave, dense, elegant with silky tannins. Notes of licorice and vanilla from Madagascar dominate the finish.

Reviews

Stepping up in price as well as quality, the 2018 Ventoux La Terre Du Petit Homme is 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, with the Grenache brought up in tank and the rest in barrel. It offers a deep purple color as well as terrific notes of black raspberries, ground pepper, crushed violets, and classic Southern Rhône garrigue and herbal notes. Medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced, with ripe yet present tannins, it’s a brilliant wine in the making. ~91-94 Jeb Dunnuck
