About the Wine

Just over two miles from one of the most famous appellations of the Right Bank of Bordeaux(and the whole world!) Pomerol, is located its neighbor: Lalande-de-Pomerol.

The 2015 Chateau Haut Laborde Lalande-de-Pomerol is produced in an appellation right next to one of the most emblematic and recognized Châteaux in the world, Petrus.

This classic region is mainly made up of Merlot grapes, followed by Cabernet Franc.

One of the great blessings of Lalande-de-Pomerol, (in addition to having the prestigious surname of its neighbor!), is being able to share a similar terroir similar, the soils are a mixture of clay, gravel, and sand. The climate is the typical Bordeaux climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. As expected throughout Bordeaux, Lalande-de-Pomerol has a great terroir for the vine to thrive. Despite the similarities to its neighbor, this appellation produces slightly different wines from Pomerol. Here, you will find fresh, easy-to-drink, charming, great value wines!

Lalande-de-Pomerol is an appellation that has begun to be on the radar of the big businessmen. Even the owner of Châteaux Angélus in Saint-Émilion, Hubert de Boüard has and eye on the region and has started to invest.

The year 2015 was an exceptional vintage in Bordeaux, Steven Spurrier, Decanter consultant said: “It’s not like Bordeaux 10 years ago, when tannins could be hard as nails. In 2015, the fruit dominates the tannins and the acidity.”

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. Aromas of cherry, pomegranate and red fruits, spicy and woody notes such as pepper, licorice and oak. Fine and elegant tannins and good acidity. Pair this wine with beef, lamb and game.
