About the Wine

The full-bodied red wines from Ciabot Berton are forged from a family that has a long-standing connection to the historic hills of Barolo. Currently led by the 5th generation, Marco and Paola, together the siblings construct big, bold reds beloved by palates far and wide. Their sustainable organic approach accompanied with meticulous attention to detail allows them to capture the full expression of Barolo's legendary terroir. The 2014 Barolo La Morra is a strong and steadfast, intense, and elegant wine, just beginning to reach its optimal drinking window.

Ciabot Berton has been growing wine in piedmont since the late 1800s. This long familial tie to the land has given the current generation a deep passion and knowledge to produce exquisite wines. It is because of this, they have started making moves towards more sustainable practices, including many of the practices of organic viticulture. The care and passion that goes into each bottle provide a product that is dazzling from the very beginning of its life. At 7 years old, this wine is just starting to show what it is really made of.

Aging: Aged in Slovenian oak barrels

Tasting notes: 100% Nebbiolo. Pale garnet red with ruby highlights. The bouquet reveals scents of wild rose, violet, and broom. The palate is dominated by plum, strawberry, red fig, and carob, supported by sweet notes of spices and licorice. Fresh, delicate, and floral, it combines a sweet and pleasant tannic structure with an acidic vein that is present but well integrated into the body of the wine. Excellent persistence in the finish.

Reviews

This opens with rose, aromatic herb, and red-berry aromas. The savory palate delivers raspberry compote, clove, and tobacco alongside youthfully austere tannins that need time to develop. Drink 2023–2029. ~90 Wine Enthusiast
