About the Wine

François Lurton is a revolutionary in the world of wine. He comes from a well-known family of Bordeaux vignerons, we can say he was born and raised among vines and wines!

After finishing his studies in enology in Bordeaux and 10 years of experience in the family's winery, François decided to undertake his adventure of producing wines in some of the best wine-growing areas in the world. Currently, he has vineyards in Chile, Argentina, Spain, and France.

After several years of researching and exploring the best terroirs in Chile, in 2000 François Lurton finally hit the nail on the head when he found the Lolol Valley, where currently has over 70 acres of vineyards in production.

Hacienda Araucano is located in the Lolol Valley in the province of Colchagua, one of the most important wine regions in the entire continent. Colchagua Valley is in a privileged area, where the unique climatic conditions are influenced by the Pacific Ocean to the West and the Andes Mountains to the East.

The Lolol Valley is one-of-a-kind, everything in this place screams perfection. The terroir is extremely blessed: The proximity to the Pacific Ocean induces morning breezes and mists that cool the vineyard, and the granite shale soil is ideal for planting cold-climate varieties that result in distinguished and elegant wines with a great personality.

The Hacienda Araucano vineyard is managed in a biodynamic, ecological, and environmentally responsible way. This is a place where farm animals, herbivores, and grapes coexist peacefully. The wines are frank and produced with respect for the soil; without using pesticides, herbicides, and little or no amount of copper and sulfur.

2016 Francois Lurton Hacienda Araucano 'Clos de Lolol' Chile is the flagship wine, it is made organically with the best grapes from the Lolol Valley.

Tasting Notes: Syrah 35%, Carmenere 25%, Cabernet Franc 20%, Cabernet 15%, Petit Verdot 5%. The nose is fresh and elegant with hints of black fruit jam and tobacco. It is a wine that reveals itself in stages, bringing to light the complexity of this blend, with background hints of leather, white pepper, and licorice. The overall effect is rounded off by aromatic power, displaying the elegance of the Lolol Valley. Pair this wine with game in wine sauce or barbecued red meat.
