About the Wine

“Ribera del Duero is like Rioja’s younger brother, but one that grew up to be bigger and brawnier than its sibling.” Wine Spectator.

Ribera del Duero is a paradise for wine lovers. Within this wine region, you’ll find some of the most unique, exceptional, south after examples of Tempranillo.

Tabula winery shares terroir with two of the most renowned wineries in the world, just 2 miles away from Pingus and 5 miles from Vega Sicilia, which wines can be found at $1,000/bottle or more!

Tabula Winery started in 2002, with the dream of Jose Luis Muñoz and his partners to produce luscious and exciting wines. Jose Luis stated that “The privileged situation of the vineyards, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, together with the limited production, the harvesting, selection and production process makes our wines unique and unmistakable.”

This winery is composed of more than 170 acres of vineyards. The vineyards are treated with extreme care and respect. The harvest is 100% manual, and the bunches are carefully selected to maintain the high quality that this winery is recognized for.

2015 and 2016 were two of the greatest vintages that Ribera del Duero has ever experienced. James Suckling said that 2016 delivered even “more balanced wines” and that it was “a classic vintage.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate blessed this vintage with a 96-point review.

Aging: 12 months, 80% in French oak barrels, 20% in American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: 100% Tempranillo. Intense aromas of fruit, fennel, and licorice, together with toast. Well-balanced, soft, and elegant tannins. Wide and persistent.

Reviews

“Guide 2021. Colour: cherry, violet edge. Nose: spicy, red fruit, black fruit, withered flowers, chocolate. Palate: tasty, fruity, good acidity, long.”~91 Points, Guía Peñín.

“This polished red shows a reserved character, but there's depth to the currant, clove, and mineral flavors, as well as balance to the ripe tannins and fresh acidity. A pretty floral note lingers on the finish. Drink now through 2026. 4,000 cases made, 400 cases imported.” ~90 Points, Wine Spectator.

“Solid berry and cassis aromas are touched up by hints of sandalwood, baking spices, and scented candle. A flush palate is lifted by snappy acidity and toughened by hard tannins. Cassis, raisin, caramel, and vanilla flavors are flush on a finish with a bolt of acidity.” ~90 Points, Wine Enthusiast.
