    About the Wine

What do you get after 180 million years of oyster shells fossilizing into soil? You get rich soil of clay and limestone that nurture Chardonnay. The Chablis region of Burgundy is one of the few places in the world with this specific soil (known as Kimmeridgian soil). That’s why Chablis is so distinctive from Chardonnay produced in other regions.

Take those rich soils and add the skill of the Fevre family, winemakers in the region since 1745, and you have attention-grabbing wines. Nathalie and Gilles Fevre are of the family’s latest generation, tracing the family tree back to the first Fevres who made wine in the region, with vineyards throughout Chablis. The 2019 Domaine Nathalie & Gilles Fevre 'Fourchaume', comes from one of the largest and best-known Premier Cru vineyards in Chablis—Fourchame. Wines from this vineyard are revered for their rounded citrus flavors, incredible structure, and fresh, mouthwatering minerality.

Unoaked Chardonnay from Chablis is considered the purest expression of the grape, and it's some of the most highly sought-after Burgundian wines. This Premier Cru Chablis is the epitome of pure Chardonnay. Mineral-driven, balanced, and full of citrus and stone fruit flavors, it’s a feather in the caps of the Nathalie and Gilles and in the cap of the Fevre family’s legacy.

Domaine Nathalie and Gilles Fevre less well-known than the larger Domain William Fevre, but both wineries from the Fevre family produce a Premier Crus Chablis from Fourchaume. Both their wines receive similar excellent reviews, but Nathalie and Gilles’ Fourchaume 1er Cru Chablis offers a better value, and with our discount, it’s one of the best values in a Premier Cru Chablis out there.

Aging: Vinification and aging on fine lees during 12 months (minimum) in air-conditioned stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes: Rich and fresh with plenty of yellow fruit - cherries, plums, and lemons, plus a salty, chalky minerality all in perfect balance with its crisp acidity.

    Reviews

Vinified and matured entirely in stainless steel, this full-bodied, elegant Chablis delivers pristine yellow fruit and minerality. It's a powerfully ripe, piercing wine with bold yellow-cherry and Mirabelle flavors but is delightfully salty and chalky on the finish. Ready to enjoy young, the wine should gain steely intensity through 2030 and hold further still. ~94 Points, Wine Enthusiast.

The 2019 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru has a refined, harmonious bouquet with more mineralité than other wines from this climat. The palate is well-balanced, taught, and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity. Welcome salinity drives the finish and encourages you back for another sip. Excellent.~93 Points, Vinous.
