2002 Pfeffingen Scheurebe Auslese
Quick Description
2002 Pfeffingen Scheurebe Auslese
About the Wine
Tasting Notes: As a cross between Silvaner and Riesling, the Scheurebe grape variety was developed in 1916 by Dr. Georg Scheu bred in Alzey.
Its particular advantages in dessert winemaking (attractive bouquet, late ripening, good acidity structure) led to the grape variety spreading rapidly both nationally and internationally.
The Pfeffingen winery has been enthusiastically dedicated to the Scheurebe for more than 40 years. Alongside Riesling, it is the winery's most important grape variety. For this large, noble sweet white wine from the Palatinate, it was necessary to select individual, noble rotten berries. It is an extremely labor-intensive and sensitive manual work that can only be carried out by harvest workers with many years of experience, fine lychee and currant aromas beguile the senses. The intense fruit charmingly caresses the palate and lasts almost endlessly. Paired with the animating acidity, this selection can be drunk now or stored for a long time.
