Since 1951, the team at Nicolis has been producing world-class wine. The 2017 Nicolis Valpolicella Classico perfectly embodies the tradition and expertise carried down from generation to generation. This wine transports you to the heart of the Valpolicella, rolling hills dominated by vineyards prevail as the Mediterranean lays in the foreground.
This wine is left to re-ferment with the skins of the Amarone and Recioto grapes, which are still intact and slightly sweet. This allows the body, color, extract, aromas, and alcoholic content of the wine to increased and the wine becomes more suitable for long aging in Slavonia oak barrels, where it remains for 16 months. The wine ages in bottle for at least six months before release.
Aging: 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 65% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 10% Molinara. The wine is a ruby red of medium intensity. The nose is pleasant and delicate, with hints of fresh and marasca cherries. The wine is dry, full-bodied, slightly bitter, yet savory and harmonious with an everlasting finish. Perfect with starters, mixed cold cuts, pizza and, served fresh, even with fatty fish.
