About the Wine

Meadowcroft is one of Sonoma's hidden treasures. These vineyard-specific, limited-release wines exhibit a Sonoma backbone with European exuberance. Heralded by Bonfort's Wine & Spirits Journal as a top 100 Winery in 2019, this family-owned estate continues its stride towards one of the world's best. The 2019 Louvau Dry Creek Zin jam-packed with dark fruits and baking spices. This freshly bottled beauty can be enjoyed in its youth or delight the patient few willing to put their temptations to the wayside. The Ultra-premium fruit source to construct this masterpiece is ready to dance across your palate even after the last sip. Are you ready?

With over thirty-five years of experience in viticulture and winemaking, Tom Meadowcroft knows dirt. Or better yet, soil. He can easily judge what makes a vineyard great. He enjoys discovering farmers with small vineyards throughout California that are producing amazing grapes and interesting varieties. He’s quick to identify these little-known gems and produce extraordinary small production wines. Meadowcroft wines are his story. Tom works alongside winemaker, Petar Kirilov, to create wines with a Sonoma pulse that express the complexity found in European varietals.

Tasting notes: 80% Zinfandel and 20% Petite Sirah. Upfront aromas of blackberry jam and plum are buttressed by underpinnings of jammy, dark fruit flavors. The palate is rich and complex, with warm clove and cinnamon spice. The finish is sumptuous, with lingering mocha and traces of vanilla from the 25% French oak used in the aging of this wine. Excellent with pork ragù or mushroom risotto with truffles.

Reviews

Here is a structured Zinfandel that shows plenty of oak toast and spice in front at present, and it promises to fold into the brooding berry fruit as the firmness mellows with a bit of bottle aging in your cellar.  It will be well worth the wait.  A Platinum Award winner at the 2021 Critics Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition. ~94 Rick Cook
