About the Wine

Thunevin was labeled the "Bad Boy" of Bordeaux by Robert Parker years ago. His "garagiste" style is akin to the great technology companies of Silicon Valley that grew up in a garage and disrupted the establishment. Jean-Luc did just that by making the best wines possible and releasing the wines at affordable prices. His efforts have been rewarded with high praise and consistent top scores. By way of price comparison, his wines are still largely affordable.

*Since 2009, Bighammerwines.com has been offering the best wines from Bordeaux online. We are a reliable and successful bridge for our clients to access significant allocations from the top Chateau, negociants and other direct importers.

Reviews

The 2020 Valandraud Blanc opens with the most gorgeous perfume of orange blossoms, honeycomb and allspice, leading to a core of pink grapefruit, lemon tart and lime cordial, with a waft of aniseed. The medium to full-bodied palate bursts with layer upon layer of tropical and citrus fruits, supported by a crisp backbone and satiny texture, finishing with epic length and perfume. Stunning. ~93-95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A dense, layered white with dried apple, pineapple and some nougat and praline on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied with tangy acidity and hints of toasted oak and bitter lemon. Lovely texture. ~94-95 James Suckling

The 2020 Valandraud Blanc offers terrific density but also quite a bit of raw, unbridled power. Lemon confit, almond, dried flowers, mint and crushed rocks open in the glass with great reluctance. The Blanc is intriguing, but it needs time. ~92-94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
