About the Wine
Here’s the truth: if you love the bold elegance of Chianti or the rich depth of Brunello, then you’re going to want to pay attention to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. These two Italian legends are classics for a reason, but what if I told you that you could get the same level of quality—and more—for a fraction of the price?
As James Suckling puts it, “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has seen a remarkable resurgence in quality,” and this wine is leading the charge.
Vino Nobile has long been the underdog, but it’s making a comeback in a big way, offering everything you love about Sangiovese—rich fruit, balanced structure, and a silky finish—with a freshness and approachability that’s hard to beat.
Unlike Chianti, which can sometimes feel a bit one-note, or Brunello, which commands a hefty price tag, Vino Nobile delivers incredible value without sacrificing depth. This wine is perfect for those who want to experience top-tier Italian wine, but don’t want to break the bank doing so. It’s an absolute steal for anyone looking for quality and a bit of discovery—because right now, Vino Nobile is the best Italian red you’re probably not drinking.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is the first Italian DOC. This place, -also referred to as “The King of All Wines”- was known to be the favorite of some of the most influential Popes, Kings, and Presidents of Italy. Montepulciano in Tuscany holds some of the world’s greatest hidden treasures. One of them is Fattoria Della Talosa.
“I feel that they are ahead of the curve. Talosa has been a consistently strong performer over the last few years, and this set of new releases is a perfect example of just that.” ~Vinous Media
Talosa’s story began over 50 years ago when Angelo Jacorossi acquired this stunning historical estate. And when we say stunning, we really mean it. The Jacorossi family immediately set their sights on producing top-quality wines, transforming this estate into a benchmark for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Today, the winery is still managed by the third generation of the Jacorossi family.
The estate spans more than 80 acres of vineyards, nestled in the beautiful Pietrose Cru—one of the most renowned Crus in Montepulciano. Located at an altitude of 350–400 meters, the vineyards face southwest, benefiting from perfect terroir conditions. The medium-textured soils, rich in Pliocene origin, Tuff, and clayey sands, combined with the expertise of winemakers Christian and Luigi, result in wines that are unique, powerful, and unforgettable.
The estate itself is simply breathtaking—like stepping onto the set of a medieval movie. Talosa’s historic cellar dates back to the 16th century and is built underground between Tarugi Palace and Sinatti Palace, two of Montepulciano’s oldest buildings. Visiting this place is like taking a step back in time.
Aging: for 2 years in the tonneaux of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th use.
Tasting Notes
100% Sangiovese. This wine enchants with an intense, floral, and fruity-spicy aroma with hints of black cherries, tobacco, and oak spice. With complex and elegant flavors, this exquisite Vino Nobile shows firm tannins on the palate, a balanced structure, and a well-integrated acidity. The finish is long, soft, delicately, and harmonious. An eclectic wine, suitable for any occasion.

Strong on the nose showing notes of black prunes, blackberries, cinnamon powder and cherry liqueur. Full bodied, super smooth tannins and a remarkably beautiful finale. It needs time to distend and come out. Better from 2024. ~94 WinesCritic.com

Aromas of leather and antique furniture frame plum and cherry flavors in this ripe, powerful red. Dense tannins emerge as this builds to a lingering finish. A touch hot in the balance. Best from 2026 through 2040. 3,500 cases made, 1,200 cases imported. ~90 Wine Spectator
Dark ruby red colour with a purple hue. Elegant nose of raspberry, cherry and cloves, reverberating with sweet tobacco. Mouth-filling on the palate with well-integrated tannins, persistent fruity finish. ~90 Falstaff
