Stags’ Leap Winery is more than a Napa Valley vineyard—it’s a piece of California history. This legendary estate has been crafting wines for over a century, with a rich past that includes glamorous parties, famous visitors, and stories passed down through generations. Today, Stags’ Leap combines its historic charm with the very best of Napa winemaking, and The Investor Red Blend is a perfect example.
This wine is all about balance and personality. Merlot brings soft red berry flavors and a smooth, velvety texture, while Petite Sirah adds boldness with a touch of spice and juicy blueberry notes. Cabernet Sauvignon brings depth and structure, and Malbec finishes it off with a fresh, floral lift. The result? A wine that’s rich and complex but still approachable, making it just as perfect for a casual dinner as it is for a special celebration.
The grapes come from some of Napa’s finest spots, including estate vineyards in Oakville and Oak Knoll, along with hand-selected parcels from across the valley. This careful sourcing adds layers of flavor and gives the wine a true Napa Valley character.
With every sip, The Investor reveals notes of ripe berries, hints of vanilla and cocoa, and a touch of spice. It’s smooth, bold, and oh-so-satisfying—a wine that’s as much a conversation starter as it is a crowd-pleaser.
If you’re looking for a wine that brings a little bit of Napa history to your table, The Investor is ready to impress. Whether paired with a hearty dish or enjoyed on its own, this is a bottle that will make any occasion feel special.
2019 was a fabulous year for Napa Valley. Wine Spectator awarded this year a 97-point score, and Vinous Media gave it 96 points saying that "The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernets have turned out beautifully. 2019 is a very high-quality vintage of Cabernets that will be easy to drink and enjoy with minimal cellaring. The extra kick of late heat softened the tannins, making the wines a pleasure to taste and drink."
Aging: Petite Sirah aged in American Oak (25% new) for 20 months; Bordeaux varieties in French oak (35% new) for 20 months.
39% Merlot, 32% Petite Sirah, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec. A true compliment of the winery’s ability to combine power with grace, the 2019 Investor is warm, rich, and inviting, with exuberant notes of dark blackberry, black cherry, blueberry cobbler, and dark plum, alongside spiced notes of cinnamon, clove, allspice and vanilla. Alluring notes of black pepper, graphite, and floral violet are interwoven with delicate savory notes of fresh thyme, lavender and wild sage. The plush mouthfeel is silky and inviting with round tannins that envelope the palate, leading to a long, mouthwatering finish with fresh acidity and vibrancy.
Aromas of black and red currants, dried herbs, black licorice and figs. Medium-to full-bodied with velvety tannins. Juicy and fruity at the start, but lovely ground spice emerges through the long finish. Well structured and harmonious. 39% merlot, 32% petit sirah, 19% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec. Best after 2025. ~95 James Suckling
An unusual blend of 39% Merlot, 32% Petite Sirah, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec, SLW's 2019 The Investor features a rich array of fruit scents, ranging from cassis to raspberry and cherry. It's medium to full-bodied, framed by soft, silky, dusty tannins and finished off by hints of vanilla. It's a step up from the winery's basic Cabernet and Merlot, more accessible and nicely balanced, even if it lacks varietal signature. Best After 2022. ~91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
