Have you ever seen such unanimity? Some of the world’s most respected wine critics all agree the 2017 Lynch-Bages is a gem of a wine hitting its stride in 2023-2024. One of 18 Fifth Growth Grand Cru Classe wineries in Bordeaux, this wine always punches above its weight and over-delivers. Château Lynch Bages consistently outperforms its ranking, and it’s the highest-profile estate in its classification.
Owned by the Cazes family, this property always seems to be on the up and up. The family purchased the estate in 1939, ensuring this hundreds-of-years-old winery continues its prestigious work. The modern estate has 100 hectares of vines split into two parts, one near the château on the Bages plateau in the southern half of the Pauillac commune, not far from Château Latour, and the other near Château Mouton Rothschild. The soils are mainly gravel and sand, which allow for good drainage.
These soils, plus mastery in the cellar, never fail to createwines of great quality, and consumers clamor for that quality. When we offer futures of Château Lynch-Bages, we sell more of the powerhouse Poulliac than any other wine offered in futures.Bordeaux lovers and collectors know they can’t go wrong with Lynch-Bages, every single vintage of this wine is spectacular.
This wine is hitting its stride now and has at least another 10+ years on the upside as it develops in bottle. Don't miss it.

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, brought up in 75% new French oak, the 2017 Chateau Lynch-Bages sports an inky color as well as a powerful, full-bodied style. Rocking blackcurrants, chocolate, smoked tobacco, and obvious minerality all emerge from this beautiful, concentrated wine that has building tannins, the more elegant, silky style of the vintage, a great mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's going to hit the ground running in about 5-7 years and cruise 20 years or more in cool cellars. ~95 Jeb Dunnuck
This is a focused and tight Lynch with beautiful blackcurrants, slate, graphite and lead pencil. Medium to full body. Very fine tannins and brightness. Linear line of tannins that runs nicely through the wine. A blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot.~95 James Suckling
This concentrated, dense wine follows the estate's hallmark richness. Solid and generous, it has both weight and layers of fresh acidity. The wine promises well, ready to drink from 2024. ~95 Wine Enthusiast, Cellar Selection
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Lynch Bages sashays out of the glass with flamboyant scents of baked blackcurrants, blackberry preserves and mulberries plus touches of lavender, dark chocolate, star anise and unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has bags of class and finesse with firm, finely-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant.~94 Wine Advocate
The 2017 Lynch-Bages is such a pretty and engaging wine; as always, it is a wine of pure and total seduction. Lush, open-knit and very pretty with ripe red and purplish fruit. There is a slight bit of edginess in the tannin that needs to be resolved but cellaring should take care of that. ~94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous
