About the Wine

Step into the enchanting world of Château De Belcier 2010, a delightful blend from the renowned Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux. This wine hails from a historic estate with roots reaching back to the 1780s, now under the careful guidance of MACIF since 1986.

Spread across 128 acres of prime terroir, the vineyards of Château De Belcier flourish in clay-limestone and silty clay soils, nurturing vines as old as 35 years. Led by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec, each grape contributes to the wine's unique charm.

Michel Rolland is the winemaking consultant. Michel Rolland grew up at Chateau Le Bon Pasteur in Pomerol. After completing his degree in enology at the University of Bordeaux, Michel and his wife Dany began consulting in 1985. He now works with over 80 Chateaux in Bordeaux and has consulted internationally, Bond and Harlan in Napa, and Ornellaia in Italy, making him one of the most sought-after consultants in the world.

 2010 was an epic year for the Right Bank. It was awarded 98 points by Vinous Media who said, "A superb vintage of wines with off-the-charts dry extract, high tannin and elevated acidity, the 2010s are likely to age a glacial pace. The 2010s are the polar opposite of the 2009s, and will appeal most to readers with classically-leaning palates."

Aging: 10 months in French oak barrels (25% new)

Tasting Notes: 57% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Malbec. A full-bodied red, it delights the palate with flavors of dark plum, anise, dark chocolate, and a touch of minty spice. It's a perfect match for grilled venison steaks, enhancing every bite with its rich profile.

Chocolate, licorice and plums. Some mint and candied violets. Intensely juicy and full-bodied on the palate with pure dark fruit and lots of new wood. Big and structured with firm, yet ripe tannins that still need some time to soften. ~92 James Suckling

The nose is relatively gourmand. It reveals notes of red fruit and cassis associated with small woody notes and a small note of roasting. The palate is fruity, harmonious, quite fresh and offers a beautiful smooth matter and a fruity frame. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry, red fruits, dried cassis and fine notes of flint associated with slight notes of sweet spices (vanilla) as well as a few slight oaky notes.
