About the Wine

Terranoble was founded in 1993 by a group of visionary and motivated friends and businessmen, who also happened to adore wine. The project was led by Jorge Elgueta with one goal in mind: “Pioneering the potential of the Maule Valley to produce fine wines.”

Terranoble has been a watershed in the current history of Chilean wine. Since 1994 the winery has been committed to the emblematic Carmenere and the Maule Valley. They have been innovating and experimenting in their vineyards and winemaking in order to fully comprehend the magic of their terroir, and produce top premium wines.

After many years of experimenting and leading the winery to superior quality, in 2016, Terranoble was awarded “Chilean Wine Producer of the Year” by The International Wine & Spirits Competition.

The winery is sustainable and responsible in all senses. In 2019, they obtained a “Sustainable Wine of Chile” certification, and later that year, they joined the program “Wine in Moderation” to promote responsible consumption of wine. The following year, Terranoble obtained the V-Label that guarantees that all the wines are vegan.

Marcelo García is the mastermind behind these wines. Throughout his extensive experience in wine, he and his wines have won several accolades including the country’s “Best Cabernet Sauvignon” in 2013 at the Annual Wines of Chile Awards.

This Carignan comes from the ancestral variety of the Maule Valley, specifically the Melozal area, and its viticulture upholds the winemaking tradition of the valley. With its intense and deep red color, it showcases aromas of red fruits, tart cherries, and flowers. It is a refreshing and complex wine.

Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: 100% Carignan. Intense deep red color, with outstanding aromas of red fruits, sour cherries, flowers and mineral notes. Very refreshing, complex and well-structured on the palate, its rustic tannins have been tamed by the time spent in old barrels bestowing a better evolution of the tannins

Reviews

One more member of the new wave of fresh and juicy carignans that are more common now than they were in the past. This one has flowers and red fruits everywhere along with a taut and nervy character supported by intense acidity and penetrating tannins. It’s drinking very well today, but it will gain in complexity after another two or three years in the bottle. It comes from vineyards in the Melozal zone, one of the key places for the variety in Chile. The vines have been dry-farmed since 1958. ~93 Descorchados
