About the Wine

Salento is a rich and exotic region, also known as the land "of the two seas,” thanks to its location between the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea, this enviable area is highly influenced by the ocean breeze, delivering stunning, rich, unique wines.

Primitivo from the Adriatic coast is the original progenitor of the Zinfandel clone. You'll recognize the style as big on red and blue fruits and it takes on a healthy dose of chocolate, raspberry, oak, and vanilla. Old vines make this wine particularly plush, svelte, and deep in flavor.

The Duca di Carlo Guarini estate is a long-standing family farm. The family’s history in Puglia dates back to 1040 when they arrived from Normandy. They say, We have been cultivating the land for almost a thousand years, we see ourselves as farmers and thus, guardians of the Apulian agricultural heritage.”

In 1114, Accardo Guarini, Count of Valesio, planted his first vineyard in the Pìutri estate, overlooking the Adriatic sea between Lecce and Brindisi. Today, this family-ownedproperty covers over 1,700 acres that are planted with vineyards, olive oils, and other vegetables, as well as the historic cellar. This winery is a dream come true, a place where tradition and modernity join to give birth to impressive wines.

Vigne Vecchie Primitivo comes from native Salento vines. All in purity and certified organic, made with competence and sincerity, always looking for the best expression of the land, respecting the environment and consumers. Brought up in stainless steel this Primitivo is intended to be a fresh drinking style that will play well with just about anything you choose to pair it with.

Tasting Notes: 100% Primitivo. Intense ruby red in color, it is vigorous on the nose while it is dense and pleasantly soft on the palate. The aromas are full of ripe fruit and blackberries with hints of sweet spices. This wine pairs lovely with roasts, braised meats, cured meats, and aged cheeses. It's the ideal wine for Italian cuisine.
