About the Wine

In 1998, Carl and Marilynn Thomas embarked on a wild journey to uncover the potential of the Willamette Valley. They discovered a hidden gem, perched upon a windy knoll in Dallas (Oregon), a place where 82 acres of vines bask in the cooling embrace of marine winds, the Van Duzer Corridor.

They were driven by the belief that extraordinary wines could thrive in these challenging conditions. Their relentless pursuit led them to establish Van Duzer Vineyards, where they uncovered the magic of the wind-swept region, and that was the beginning of it all.

Over the last 25 years, their intuition and risk-taking have borne fruit: world-class wines that are the perfect blend of lightness and intensity.Writers and winemakers made the Oregon pilgrimage to witness the unique impact of wind and marine soils on Pinot Noir. In 2019, the Van Duzer Corridor received official recognition as a distinct sub-AVA of the Willamette Valley, cementing its status as one of Oregon's premier grape-growing regions.

As the oldest winery in the AVA, Van Duzer Vineyards has naturally evolved into the defining producer of cool-climate Pinot Noir in the Van Duzer Corridor. This is a place where uniquely Oregon wines are truly crafted by the wind.

Winemaker Eric Misiewicz, with a background in agriculture and a degree in Viticulture and Enology from Cornell University, brings his expertise to Van Duzer Vineyards. After working in various wine regions worldwide, Eric was drawn to the lively and bright wines of the Willamette Valley. In a state-of-the-art winemaking facility, he handles each batch with care and precision, ensuring every bottle is a masterpiece.

Van Duzer Vineyards is dedicated to sustainable practices. With certifications from LIVE, Salmon Safe, and IOBC, they're committed to preserving the environment for future generations. Thoughtful vineyard management, biodiversity, and minimal irrigation ensure healthy vines and exceptional grapes.

2018 was an extraordinary vintage for this region. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate blessed this year with a 96-point review, and Wine Spectator said it was "a warm, arid summer, laying the groundwork for excellent wines."
