About the Wine

Robert Mondavi, does he really need an introduction?

In 1966, Robert Mondavi established his eponymous winery with a visionary goal: to create Napa Valley wines that could rival the world's finest. To fulfill this vision, he chose the iconic To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, California, renowned for producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

With over fifty years of leadership in California's wine industry, Robert Mondavi Winery has earned its place as a premier institution. To Kalon Vineyard consistently ranks as the #1 vineyard in North America and #7 in the world. Their wines have garnered critical acclaim and have won the hearts of industry experts, and discerning wine enthusiasts.

The legacy of Robert Mondavi continues with Geneviève Janssens, Chief Winemaker at the winery. Geneviève, with her extensive background in enology and her international experiences, brings a unique perspective to winemaking. She joined the Robert Mondavi Winery team in 1978 and played a pivotal role in the creation of the inaugural 1979 vintage of Opus One, a testament to her dedication and expertise.

In 1989, she became the Director of Production at Opus One Winery and later assumed the role of Director of Winemaking at the Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997. Her commitment to quality and her holistic approach to winemaking have been instrumental in upholding the winery's reputation for excellence.

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. Bright and expressive, with a zip of acid balanced by lovely flavors of plum and earth. Juicy, lifted and energetic.
