About the Wine

You may have enjoyed a bottle or two of Brookman's Napa Cabernet that has gone bonkers on BHW, which is about half Stagecoach, and then rest from a vineyard off Silverado Trail in Napa. NOW, We present his insanely decadent and premium cellar-aged 100% rare Stagecoach bottling. To truly understand this magical place, it is best to taste it with age. And it's hitting all of its high notes now!

If you don't know the story, here is a refresher.

Let me introduce you to Gary Brookman, owner of Brookman Winery, and the legendary winemaker who played a crucial role in planting the Stagecoach vineyard, along with Dr. Jan Krupp.

“Dr. Jan Krupp is a former internist who sold his practice in 1998 to pursue his dream of creating a great vineyard to rival that of Chateau Margaux and Ridge Montebello.” And guess what? He did it.

He created the Stagecoach vineyard, a place that has become the go-to source of top-quality fruit for many prestigious wineries. Just think about it - Caymus, Paul Hobbs, Miner, Alpha Omega, Chappellet, Pride, Pahlmeyer, Palmaz... these are the big players, the crème de la crème, and they all source their fruit from the Stagecoach vineyard. And let me tell you, these wines don't come cheap. Most of them go for over $150 per bottle.

For those who don’t know Stagecoach Vineyard is simply iconic. Trust me when I say this place is like no other vineyard I've ever experienced; it's tucked away in a remote, off-the-grid location, giving it an air of mystery and adventure.

Now, here's the exciting part: Every single grape in this wine comes exclusively from the Stagecoach vineyard. If you've enjoyed the 2015 or 2016 Brookman Cab, here's the scoop: they didn't fully come from Stagecoach, yet they still made a mark.

Can you imagine what this one offers? Trust me, once you taste it, you'll understand the excitement around this famous vineyard. These are the type of wines that remind me why I love wine so much.

You see, Gary is more than just a talented winemaker - he's a true visionary. In fact, he was the largest buyer of the Stagecoach vineyard, when he spent over 25 years crafting the wines of Miner, and also during his trajectory in Grace Family. The following wineries have followed suit and work with Stagecoach fruit: Levendi, Chappellet, Darioush, Duckhorn, Montelena, Orin Swift, Pahlmeyer, and Quintessa. It is essential to note that most of these wines can fetch prices of up to $200+ per bottle.

And the Brookman Cab? Oh boy, does it deliver! It's a wine that embodies elegance, richness, and all the luxurious qualities you'd expect from a $150 bottle, and today, we have it at over 50% OFF!

And the vintage? It was awarded 96 points by Wine Spectator, who said: "A solid vintage across the board marked by a tannic spine that will age well."

Well, those few years have arrived, and the moment to indulge in this 11-year-old wine is NOW!!!

Aging: 22 Months 50% New French Oak

Tasting Notes: 100% Stagecoach Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wine is a PARTY! This 2012 emerges as a compelling counterpart to its celebrated 2010 predecessor, offering a captivating blend of familiarity and youthful exuberance.

Pouring a deep purple reminiscent of its elder sibling, the 2012 vintage immediately captivates with an inviting nose of blackberries, cassis, and a nuanced touch of graphite. Drawing parallels to the 2010 vintage, it showcases a similar sophistication, but with a distinctive twist— a touch more fruit that adds an extra layer of vibrancy.

On the palate, the 2012 vintage unfolds with a dynamic interplay of bold black fruit flavors, seamlessly integrated tannins, and judicious use of oak. While mirroring the structural finesse of the 2010, this younger counterpart introduces a slightly more pronounced fruit profile, contributing to an overall impression of vitality and freshness.

The finish, a lingering symphony of flavors, underscores the wine's youthfulness and promises an exciting evolution over time. As the 2012 Brookman Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon draws comparisons to its esteemed 2010 counterpart, it establishes itself as a worthy successor, offering a touch more fruit while embracing the inherent promise of a younger vintage. An outstanding wine that is so fun to taste alongside the 2011, and 2010 bottlings.
