About the Wine

Agiorgitiko is Greece’s most celebrated red varietal, also known as St. George and aptly referred to as 'The Blood of Hercules.' This red-purple nectar is a sensory journey waiting to unfold.

Sofos Red boasts a fruit-forward palate, bursting with ripe notes of cherry and pomegranate. A dance of licorice and wild mint hints teases the senses, promising an adventure like no other.

Sofos "The Wise One" Red is the epitome of sophistication. Each sip is a ticket through the rich history and mythology of Greece.

Nemea-Agiorgitiko wines are an embodiment of myth, history, and culture. Legend has it that the blood of the lion slain by Hercules stained the very vines that produce these wines. Truth or fiction, the allure of this ancient region is undeniable.

In Nemea, time stands still and evolves simultaneously. Century-old vines, some rooted in native soil, coexist with modern viticultural artistry.

The 2021 Sofos Nemea-Agiorgitiko Greece Red is not just a wine; it's an odyssey. It's the past intertwined with the present, mythology in a bottle, and the heart and soul of Greece itself.

Aging: 6 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Agiorgitiko. This wine has a lovely ruby color with violet hints. When you take a whiff, you'll notice the aromas of cherry, red berries, and a hint of spice. The taste is well-balanced with good acidity and a medium-plus body, showcasing flavors of fresh blackcurrant, blackberry, a touch of red pepper, and a hint of dark chocolate. It finishes with medium-length and firm tannins.
