About the Wine

This wine comes from Finca Piedra Infinita located in the Paraje de Altamira in La Consulta, where the Zuccardi family is a pioneer; they arrived when there were no other vines planted. Little by little, they have shown through their wines the greatness of Altamira’s terroir. Sebastian Zuccardi says: “We got there by intuition, driven by the landscape. Cultivating this vineyard implies studying, working, and knowing each row, and each stone. Exploring its enormous diversity to be able to interpret it through wine. An authentic mountain wine ”.

The surname Zuccardi has a well-deserved reputation in the wine industry worldwide. This family is not only responsible for producing some of the best Argentinian wines, but they also have the best wine tourism experience in the entire world: For the third consecutive year, Zuccardi Valle de Uco has been named "The Best Vineyard in the World" by the recognized magazine and digital media company, William Reed Business Medi.

This family business founded by engineer Alberto Zuccardi in 1963, has 6 different estates strategically placed in some of the best wine-growing areas of Mendoza. Today, it is directed by Sebastián Zuccardi, Alberto's grandson.

Sebastián is a visionary and innovative agronomist and winemaker who has made great strides and improvements since he took over the winery. Among other important achievements, he started and promoted a department of research and development that studies the terroir of the region, in order to better understand the land and improve the quality of their wines. Sebastian says: "We don’t look for perfect wines, but those that express the place, the region”.

The winery was built in 2013 and is a tribute to the majestic Andes mountains that surround it. Zuccardi Wines is sustainable in all aspects, from the vineyard to the cellar and even the architecture, where the construction is made with natural elements from the area. The wines are vinified in basins and amphoras allowing a more natural result and with the least possible human intervention.

The Q Series are single-grape wines sourced from carefully chosen vineyards in the finest regions of Mendoza. Each vineyard is harvested individually and at distinct intervals to craft a wine of ultimate grace and harmony. Zuccardi Q is a very special line for the family. When the project began, the finest plots of each wine were marked with a "Q," which referred to quality, indicating that those were unique parcels that required special attention.

Reviews

Zuccardi Q has a long history that began in 1998 with its first harvest. It has been a path in which there have been many changes in style. This last version, we believe, must be the best, most in line with the idea we have of a mountain Malbec. This comes from vineyards in Paraje Altamira and Los Chacayes, both 1,000 meters above sea level and offers not only acidic black fruits but also herbal notes in a body of taut, firm, pungent tannins. One of those Malbecs that make you salivate and bring to mind images of roasts. ~93 Descorchados

A selection from vineyards in Vista Flores and La Consulta, this wine is fun and zesty, focusing on Malbec’s fresher side with wild blueberry flavors and violet scents. The snappy herbal pop in the tannins suggest vertically-integrated complexity, from purposeful harvest to Zuccardi’s light-handed vinification. ~93 Wine & Spirits

A spicy malbec with a touch of fine herbs, oyster sauce, and dark minerals to the fresh blueberries. A very fresh and nicely chewy expression of malbec with a medium to full body on the palate. Tannins are tight, fresh, and grained. Mostly from Paraje Altamira and Los Chacayes. Try in 2025. ~93 James Suckling

The 2021 Q Malbec comes from Altamira and Chacayes and was made with a significant part of full clusters (especially Altamira) and aged mostly in concrete to keep that sense of purity. It has notes of some blue fruit, aromatic herbs, and a citrus twist, reminiscent of green tea. It is floral, expressive, perfumed and fine-boned, with a medium-bodied palate where the tannins are fine and there's some grip. ~92+ Robert Parker

Fresh, youthful, and inviting, with violet, espresso bean, and blueberry aromas that join a lively mouthful of orange peel. Features wild berry and slate accents that linger nicely around suave tannins. Drink now through 2032. ~91 Wine Spectator
